How Does the Google Analytics Integration Work?

You can only use this feature if you have Google Analytics set up for your website.

You simply have to activate the Google Analytics integration in your email settings. To use the Google Analytics integration for all your campaigns, navigate to the drop-down menu at the top right of your screen and click on Email Settings > Tracking.

You can also activate the Google Analytics integration for a single campaign in the fifth step of creating a campaign.

When you activate the tracking before sending your campaign, you’re able to add further custom parameters.

If you activate the Google Analytics integration, it automatically adds different tracking parameters to each link. The information will be processed by Google Analytics to measure it.

These are the default parameters: 

  • The campaign name (utm_campaign = {Your campaign name})
  • The campaign source (utm_source = newsletter) 
  • The campaign medium (utm_medium = email)

For further parameters, you can add a parameter name (for example utm_client) and parameter value (for example Company). You can only do this within the Google Analytics tool. Check out more information in the following article about Campaigns.
